With a Treat for Maintaining Your Flexibility —
We make our plans, and then Life intervenes, right? So it really helps to first get in the habit of fitting both your regular and desired additional activities into your carefully defined time frames. That way you don’t set up a ripple that creates unnecessary stress and/or sabotages your other high priority activities — either solo or coordinated with others.

Then you can use this already established framework to switch allocated time slots for supporting your need to be flexible, without having to make unnecessary sacrifices in other areas. Just make an equal and respectful trade. For example, if I have to schedule a dentist appointment on a day of the week devoted to my work, then I merely swap that with my errand loop day and add in the extra stops while I’m already away from my desk, so that everything still gets done.
And as you try living it in real time, continue to revise your individual Joie de Vivre schedule as needed to make sure it actually supports and serves your intended purposes. All this takes some practice and tweaking to get right, but it’s one of those things that’s actually worth the attention and effort involved. Next time we’ll focus on Realizing Our Benefits.
But in the meantime, as the spring days continue to bloom and grow toward summer solstice, why not embrace this season out of doors with a picnic lunch, dinner, or even tea time break more full of ease and fresh air? Works for me! Every time.
