How It Works
Both beginners and experienced cooks can Come Home to Cooking. These small hands-on classes are held year round in the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of my professional home kitchen in Petaluma. Everyone works together to experience and thoroughly understand every step in master recipes representing core concepts designed to teach you how to really cook. Current Class Schedule
Please feel free to pick and choose. Although the sequence of classes will integrate to build a strong working foundation, each individual class is a complete unit and can be taken on its own. View the Class Schedules.
Days
The regular Wednesday, Friday and Saturday classes are open for individual or group enrollment. Private party group classes of 8 or more students can be reserved for a day that meets the needs of everyone involved.
Times
Unless otherwise noted, the regular classes are typically scheduled for 10 am to 2 pm on Wednesday or Saturday, and 5-9 pm on Friday. Although each session is unique and some individual subjects are more involved than others, the actual cooking and instruction part of the class usually takes about three hours. An additional hour after that is included to more graciously accommodate our enjoyment of the completed dishes and any concluding discussion.
Private party group classes can be booked for either morning, afternoon or evening at a time that meets the needs of everyone involved.
Class Size
There is usually a maximum of 12 students per class.
Cost
The tuition for each class is $85 unless otherwise noted.
We Provide
All utensils, knives, aprons and beverages. This is primarily a class, but we do taste as we cook to better understand the process, and then we gather around the table to enjoy what we’ve made, discuss what we've learned and have the pleasure of each other’s company. Additional refreshments are offered in accordance with the time slot, subject matter and class particulars.
You Take Home
Printed recipes and information specific to that class (along with great ideas and fresh inspiration).

For Private Party Group Classes
Private party groups will first need to contact Kay (refer to Contact Us) to discuss available dates, times and corresponding class subject options. Then the primary contact person collects registration fees and contact information from each member of their party before sending the total group amount on to me by at least 14 days in advance of the scheduled event. Once received, I will send individual confirmation emails with directions and details to each member of the party.
Change of Plans?
Cancellations made more than 14 days prior to the class day entitle you to a full refund; after that, you can either apply your tuition to another class or else receive a full refund only if your place can be filled. Since there is no opportunity to provide a possible replacement from the waiting list, students absent without any advance notification forfeit the right for either a refund or re-application of that registration fee to a future class.
Private party group cancellations must also be made more than 14 days prior to the scheduled event to receive a refund and at least 7 days in advance to be eligible for any credit. The minimum of 8 students is required for group classes to be held.
If for any reason I need to cancel or reschedule a class, you will be notified and given the option of a full refund or credit toward another class.
Gift Certificates
Cooking classes are one of those gifts that can truly keep on giving—both to the recipient and then to the people they cook for in turn. Please inquire.
