New Class Days and Times

Welcome to the Spring Season Schedule. In an ongoing effort to respond to what seems best for the most people, I am now offering some new possibilities that I hope will work for you. See You in Class!

WEDNESDAY: Regular Wednesday classes will now be held from 10 am - 1 pm. The idea is to give you the chance to get your day started before joining us late morning, spend your lunch hour with good food and company, and still have enough time left to complete your afternoon loop before dinner. [And once the Wednesday evening Petaluma famers' market opens on June 10, it will also afford us all a little breather before dashing off to load up our baskets for the week. I have some new plans for that too; all will be revealed when I announce my Summer Schedule of classes several months from now.]

FRIDAY: Some of my regular classes will now be scheduled on Fridays from 5-8 pm. For these early evening classes,I will typically choose topics that lend themselves well to that time of day. It's a fun opportunity to wind up your week, come with a friend, and launch your weekend with fresh inspiration.

PRIVATE PARTY GROUP CLASSES: This option remains a really great way to easily get together with your own group of friends, family or co-workers for both a terrific time and a shared learning experiece. Morning, afternoon or evening at Come Home to Cooking. If one of the current class subjects strikes you as a good match for your group, then call to find out when we can schedule it within that same class week. Or if you'd like to learn about the menu of other available topics I find work well in these situations, please inquire. Welcome to My Website

A year ago I was amazed at how quickly my website designer, Bruce Maxwell, had turned my first class schedule, registration and bio information into a destination called “Come Home to Cooking” that anyone could visit with just the click of a button. He was only waiting to receive a home page photo of me before we launched it.

Class 1 [Ratatouille and Roasted Vegetables] was a rush in every way, and as the following weeks rolled on out, we made bread salads, onion soups, savory stews, stuffed pumpkins, winter salads, Dungeness crab everything, visions of sugarplums and other holiday appetizers and treats. And I took pictures—I love to take pictures—of market basket still lifes, aromatic vegetables, dewy red-speckled greens, piping hot herb scones, cascading mushroom slices, onions in butter, melting chocolate, hand-painted tea cups, crystal wine decanters, engaging students, dear friends and devoted family. But I forgot about pictures of me in my glorious kitchen and suddenly it was time to send out the next class schedule and the next class schedule and the next class schedule and so it continued.

As it turns out, I’m grateful for this unintended delay. If I had managed to get the website together a year ago, it all would have been about what I planned to do instead of what I now get to see Come Home to Cooking has become. There couldn’t have been seven pages of linked information, including class day descriptions or student feedback. And it wouldn’t have offered this interactive weblog format for keeping things current and offering you yet another way to be a part of it all.

It’s critical that this website be beautiful, but also clear, well organized, and easy to use—Bruce took care of all that. We want you to feel relaxed and supported at Come Home to Cooking. Hopefully both this website and every one of us will continue to recognize and make the most of new opportunities to learn and connect in ways that meet our needs in this great life together.
